Rafelzone
Roelof Rump kwam regelmatig bij het slaaphuis voor dak- en thuislozen. Niet voor een bed, maar voor de mensen die daar rondhangen. En altijd nam hij zijn fotocamera mee. Roelof noemde zichzelf straatfotograaf. Met zijn foto’s laat hij zien waar wij liever onze ogen voor sluiten: de rafelzone van onze samenleving.
Zijn zwerffotografie voelde voor Roelof als een persoonlijke missie. Eerder in de politiek lukte het hem niet om deze mensen de aandacht en respect te geven die ze verdienen. Met zijn foto’s hoopte hij ons iets milder te stemmen over de mensen die leven op straat.

Als programmamaker was ik betrokken bij het programma Gelderse Koppen van 2010/2017 Zeven jaar lang zat ik hiervoor uren op de redactie krantjes uit te pluizen, sites af te struinen, geamuseerde telefoongesprekken te voeren… Alles voor die specifieke ‘koppen’. Ik maakte samen met wisselende cameramensen 4-minuten portretten van doodgewone mensen en hun uitzonderlijkheden.
